The Bell has live music three times a week (Monday and Wenesday evenings from 9pm and Sunday lunchtimes from 1pm) ranging from jazz to blues to folk to roots to some things we are not sure what to call.
We have live video of all bands playing, streamed on Ustream, plus recordings of those bands.

Wednesday 4 January
The Jigantics
Definitely our favourite name of the month - see what they did there? - the Jigs play the folk music of the world from a British angle with an accent on the uptempo stuff. There's nothing better for pouring pints down to. [video link]

Sunday 8 January (lunchtime)
Swamp Donkey
Gonks are furry, cuddly, and often to be found in the corner of the room when you thought they were lost. Donks are quite similar, only the fur is more stubbly, they play rags & blues, and they only get lost when they mean to.[video link]

Monday 9 January
Kevin Brown Trio
The Big Guns are coming out this month, as you can see by a glance down the page. Mr Brown has been signed to a variety of serious record labels (before he saw sense and went DIY), is one of Britain's very best slide guitarists, and writes songs about Bath as well as the Mojave desert. Wednesday 11 January
Terremoto
Mr Moto's first name wasn't in fact Terry, and this means Earthquake, anyway, o cunning linguists. It's a new Bristol latin band with serious heavyweights of the order of Crofton, Blomfield, etc., and THREE percussionists. This is a monster rhythm & blowing machine and you will be impressed. Again.

Sunday 15 January (lunchtime)
Davis Lindley Mullan
Probably the toppest popstar ever to actually live in Walcot Street rather than just hang out here, Andy's not lost the touch when it comes to writing and delivering lovingly lived-in melodies… [video link]

Monday 16 January
Medicine Creek
Any night one or two of these guys doesn't have a gig, they're probably dreaming up yet another new band, like this one: add the big bold & beautiful voice of Nuala Honan to Aaron & Dorian from Sheelenagig, what'ya got? Good times! [website link]

Wednesday 18 January
Mango Factory
Well we didn’t think they made mangos in a factory, but this must have been something they knocked off in the breaks with some of the spare magic: much danceable groove of various hot caribbean flavours, two hot-stuff vocalists, blazing brass – the absolute antidote to January! [video link]

Sunday 22 January (lunchtime)
The Carrivick Sisters
This is a bit of luck! Recently moved to Bath, Laura & Charlotte have been playing since they were 9, went pro on leaving school in only 2007, and can show a few of these bluegrass boys we get in here a thing or two. Those who won't be shown up will be in here anyway for the charm of the experience. [video link]

Monday 23 January
Dakhla
Because what they were doing elsewhere wasn't stretching them enough, apparently, Lady ChaCha, Ben Zen, Sophie & Matt - of Hussies and Hats most notably - assembled this little combo to play themselves round the world, with a great feel for rhythm. [myspace link]

Wednesday 25 January
K'Chevere
Meanwhile the reigning top Latino band in these parts has gone and re-jigged their lineup something serious, and are playing with triple the energy because of the new lease of life. Well worth being in for, in other words. [website link]

Sunday 29 January (lunchtime)
The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists
Not actually a bunch of overworked builder-decorators - and if they're grievously underpaid in here it's 'cos you haven't put enough in the collection - but a bunch of acoustic rowdies from way out west, led by Mr Julian Gaskell, who is a musical polyglot lunatic of the highest order. [myspace link]

Monday 30 January
Rae & Friends
Leonie has been working here for, ooo, ages, so in fact it shows great restraint on behalf of all of us that she hasn't played here properly with her main band yet. We don't know who the friends will be yet (watch for posters) but we do know she has lots.
